Attaching POD to Mount FAQ

Here are the measurements for using screws to attach the POD Mount. These are sized for the next-length size appropriate screw and using the rubber feet as well for cushion bumpers.

The actual well depth in the metal POD shells across all models is .40" or 10.2mm.

If theyou wish not to use the bumpers, you should use either washers or nylon standoffs on the following mounting screws to make up the space difference. A round-down size screw would be too much to use and the threads may not bite into the cast metal shell correctly.

NOTE: If POD is face down on its front, Front Length = Lower 2 holes and Rear Length = Upper 2 holes.

This document shows the update for the Pocket POD using Line 6 Monkey. Be sure that Monkey is installed on your system using the following documents to ensure proper connection:

Connect your PocketPod Via USB to your computer, then run the Line 6 Monkey application. If your software is out of date (or you want to reflash for trouble shooting purposes), you will want to update using the following directions.

1) Select the "flash memory" to highlight (in blue), then select "update selection".

2) If Monkey asks you to register your gear, you can select “remind me later”.

3) Select "I Accept" for the software agreement and select “continue”.

4) Follow the directions, then select "OK"

5) Select "yes" to continue

6) wait for the flash memory to update and be installed.

7) Turn your Pocket POD Off, then on, then select "OK"

8) When your unit has been sucessfully updated Line 6 Monkey will look like this:

Q: My update stopped in the middle of the process?

A: During the Pocket POD update using the Line 6 Monkey software on a Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit) machine, the update may stop and will not continue. This may occur on certain USB ports. This issue can be verified if the progress bar stops partway through the update. Note: If the update does stop, the system will not respond to requests to shutdown the computer, even after force quitting monkey. After disconnecting the Pocket POD, the system can be shutdown. The Pocket POD remains in boot mode after this occurs. Reconnecting to Monkey and re-installing the firmware update does recover the Pocket POD. Please make sure to test the Pocket POD on every USB port on your computer while troubleshooting this issue. Completely remove any USB hubs, even if not in use.

Is Bass POD Mono

Q: Is the Bass POD a mono device?

A: The short answer to this is yes, the Bass POD is mono in the sense that there is no left and right output of the effects. Instead, the Bass POD has an amp model out and a "direct" out because most bass players will usually record their bass going directly into the mixing console as well as going through their amp (which is mic'ed and then sent to the mixing console.) Some players do this in live situations when the PA can accommodate it. Because of this, we found having seperate "Amp" and "D.I." outputs would be more useful than stereo.

Cabinet Tuning Mode

Q: The Bass POD web page says there is a Cabinet Tuning Mode for matching the output of the Bass POD to different cabinet types when using the Bass POD as the front end of an amplifier. Is this true?

A: Yes, this feature is not documented in the manual.

You will need to power the Bass Pod up holding down the save button. Then you can choose between A,B,C, or D. The Bass Pod will default to a. Mode "A" assumes that POD is feeding a flat power amp and that your speakers are a closed back 4x12 cabinet. Mode "B" assumes that POD is feeding a flat power amp and that your speakers are an open back combo amp (1x12 or 2x12). Mode "C" is the default mode that assumes POD is in front of the Combo/head and your speakers are an open back combo amp. Mode "D" assumes that POD is feeding into the front of a Head and your speakers are a 4x12 closed back cabinet

Connecting Bass POD to Computer

Q: How do I conenct my Bass POD to my computer for editing?

A: In order to establish communication between your Bass POD's MIDI In and Out and your computer, you will need a MIDI Interface, two standard MIDI cables and the cables necessary to connect the interface to your computer.

Connecting Bass POD to Combo Amps, Heads and Cabinets

Q: How should I connect my Bass POD to my amplifier?

A: The Bass Pod is not a power amp. You will need to go from the Bass Pod into a power amp and then into a cabinet, or insert the Bass Pod in the effects loop of your amp.

The Bass Pod's outputs are line level outputs. If you want to go into the front you should consider purchasing a direct box (ebtech makes a fairly inexpensive one) that will drop your level down to an instrument level. This way the impedance levels will not be mismatched between your Bass Pod and Head.

Another thing you might want to check would be the overall output level of your Bass Pod. It should be set between 12 and 2 o'clock.

Recording into Computer

Q: How do I record my Bass POD into my computer?

A: In order to record the audio signal of your Bass POD directly into your computer, you will first need the proper type of software that is capable of recording audio loaded into your computer.

You will also need a sound card that has an audio input.

If you have a Soundblaster type of card, you will need a cable that has two 1/4 inch mono plugs on one end and one 1/8 inch stereo plug. This cable can be found at most major music retailers. The two 1/4 inch mono jacks on this cable will need to be inserted into the Bass POD's Modeled and DI Outputs and the other end of the cable should be inserted into the audio input of your computer's sound card. Make sure your sound card and audio software are configured to receive audio input and you should be ready to record.

If you are using another type of soundcard, like a unit that has an external break out box, you can plug directly into that box using a regular guitar cable of a balanced (TRS) cable. Be sure to check the documentation that came with the unit to configure it correctly.

Bass POD: How to Edit Tones - Blending DI and Model Outputs - Changing Cab / Mic Settings

Q: How do you Edit tones on the Bass POD?

A: The software you need is LINE 6 EDIT, obtainable as a free download HERE. You can also use it to search the Custome Tone Website for compatible custom tones for your specific device.

Time Align DI and Modeled Signals

Q: Can I Time Align and blend the DI signal with the Amp Model?

A:Yes. To blend the DI signal into the Amp Model output, press the MANUAL+CABS/EQ buttons simultaneously so that the CABS/EQ button is flashing slowly. Adjust Compress knob from min (all model@Amp Model output) to max (all DI@ Amp Model output). Press CABS/EQ to exit. This is storable in a preset.

The Model and DI outputs are preset to be time aligned at 100Hz, but you can adjust this. To Time Align the Amp Model and DI outputs, press the MANUAL+CABS/EQ buttons simultaneously so that the CABS/EQ button is flashing slowly. Adjust Channel Volume from min (0ms delay) to max (8ms delay). Press CABS/EQ to exit. This is storable in a preset.

When you're in this mode, all of the other knobs (amp tone controls, tweak) still function so it's easy to dial in a time aligned, blended DI signal with your main tone.

Change Cabinet and Mic Models

Q: How do I change the Cab and Mic models on the Bass POD?

A: CAB/A.I.R. - Press the CAB/A.I.R. button once to pick a Cab Model to pair with your amplifier, select the microphone used on the cabinet and even set the amount of "room" that the mic captures. Unlike the EFFECT ON/OFF buttons, this button is not an on/off type control. A single press of this button simply lets you change cabs and mics quickly. When the Cabinets are off, this button's light will be off as well.

Troubleshooting and Known Issues

Q: My Pocket POD is not powering up?

A: The POD was designed to work with standard (mono) 1/4" cables. Check to make sure you are not plugging a TRS cable into your Pocket POD.

Q: My Pocket POD reboots when changing power source while connected via USB?

A: Changing the power source of your Pocket POD while connected via USB will cause the unit to reboot and its Class Compliant driver to ?drop? its MIDI ports. It is not recommended you change your Pocket POD?s power source while connected via USB.

Q: Where can I get Vyzex software support?

How to resolve a blank screen on a PODxt LIVE

If you are getting a blank screen on your PODxt LIVE please try the following steps.

1. Turn off the POD

2. Turn on the POD while holding down the Save and Edit buttons simultaneously

3. The POD's LCD screen should display Init Edit Buffer

4. Push the Output mode button

5. Turn the Select / Select Page knob one click to the right

6. Turn the Effect Tweak / Change Value knob to the left or right adjusting the contrast.

If it does not solve the issue. Please consult an authorized Line 6 Service Center.

I purchased a MODEL PACK and can't find any of the new features on my device.

Please run LINE 6 MONKEY and go to the OPTIONAL ADD ONS tab. Please make sure that your model pack(s) has/have a green check mark next to it. If you do not see a check mark, please do a refresh in LINE 6 MONKEY. Click on the OPTIONAL ADD ONS tab, click on MODEL PACKS, click on ACTIVATE PURCHASE, then type in the word "refresh" (no " marks).

If this does not work, please try to type in your license key again. If you forgot that #, please log on to our website, click on MY ACCOUNT, and then go to license keys. After you see a green check mark(s) next to your model pack, please check under the respective locations to find the added AMP or EFFECTS models.

Note: The installation of your model pack will not add presets to your device/program, it will add more AMP or EFFECTS models.

I am trying to set up my POD XT Live and on the what are you connecting to screen I cannot get it out of Studio/Direct mode.

When headhphones are plugged in, the POD XT Live defaults to Studio/Direct mode. Please unplug the headphones and it should give you the other connection options.

Q: How do I calibrate the pedal on my PODxt Live?

A: Setting the calibration on your PODxt Live pedal is simple. Just follow these steps:

1. Make sure there is nothing connected to your PODxt live aside from the power cable.

2. Power up the PODxt Live while holding down the Bank Up switch.

3. Press the Amp button to zero current settings.

4. Move the pedal all the way to the heel back position, then all the way forward until the toe switch clicks. You will want to stand up and shift all of your weight to the toe position until you see the WAH light turn on.

5. Wait 10 seconds, then power the PODxt Live off and back on again.

6. Your pedal is now calibrated.

Q: What type of pedal should I use for the external expression pedal?

A: The Line 6 EX-1 is the pedal recommended for use with all Line 6 gear. You should be able to use any expression pedal with a 10K potentiometer if you do not have an EX-1 available.

Q: Can I calibrate the external expression pedal?

A: There is no calibration method for the external expression pedal.
