Hi,

I just recently installed Windows 7 64bit operating system, this is final retail version.

I have POD XT live and Pod farm, etc and I installed the POD XT live drivers and Line 6 Monkey. However, whenever I play back an audio, it has a crackling sound.

I don't know why this is happening. I also browsed the forum and tried some of the suggested work arounds but this issue isn't resolved.

Can you please tell me what I should do to resolve this crackling sound?

Also the LIne 6 Monkey doesn't show anything listed all under Updates. I installed the Line 6 Monkey 64bit version that is supposed to be compatible for Vista 64bit but that

didn't make any difference and the crackling sound is still there.

Hello,

I bought the line 6 pod farm for my boyfriend so he could record his music and burn it to a CD. When I went to Guitar Center, that is what I told them I was trying to do and they sold me the Line 6 Pod farm. And while he absolutely loves it and all that he can do with it, he still cannot seem to get it to actually record his playing to his computer in any format that can be shared or burned to a CD. Is he missing a step or is he missing some other system or program that is needed to actually be able to accomplish that part?

Pod XT Live Expression Pedal Failure

My expression pedal has been giving me fits lately. During the last several performances (I play every weekend) it's been a guessing game with this thing. When I power up the unit it will perform as it always has in the past but lately after a short time the expression pedal will suddenly fail the result being full output of the particular patch down the line.. Sometimes if I power down and power back up the problem will go away but then reappear a short time later. It's unpredictable. Other times when I power up the expression pedal doesn't work at all, full volume. I've been running a cry baby down line to try to manage this but it very inconvenient and is certainly not what I want. I've read about recalibrating the pedal but that doesn't sound like thats the answer. The pedal does work SOMETIMES b ut only for a short time. Whats up?

Have an original pod and software. Just got a macbook and tried to use software. Says, "Classic environment no longer supported". Is the software no longer useful? Is there something I can do to remedy the problem? Not a big techy and only need the capabilities that came with ver. 2. Thanks.

I have been trying to download Line6 edit and Line6 Monkey, and I am way past frustrated. One of the main reasons I bought the Pod 2.0, was to go online and download custom tones. I can't even get the edit and monkey software to load...keeps asking me to make sure I am connected to the Internet because Java runtime environment needs to be installed, or to connect my Pod to my computer; I am, it is, but it won't.

...$200 for this Pod, and then I find out I have to buy a MIDI to USB cable in order to use it with my computer (seriously, how hard would it have been to have a freakin' USB port on the Pod 2.0? Should I really have to pay $300 for the Pod XT to have it. Come on, seriously???!!!). I'm a little annoyed until I find out the cable costs about 50 bucks, and "a little annoyed" turns into: really, really annoyed. I mean, come-on, 3 more cables and I could have bought another Pod 2.0!!

I've downloaded installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled edit, monkey, Java, and JRE a dozen times. I even completely reinstalled Windows XP on my computer to start fresh. NOTHING WORKS AND YOUR SUPPORT INSTRUCTIONS ARE CONFUSING AND INCOMPLETE!!!

Now, having said all this, I love the Pod 2.0 itself...great sounds. But can someone please help me GET THIS THING HOOKED UP AND TALKING TO MY PC BEFORE I GO COMPLETELY NUTTS?

I think I may have an unwinnable situation here. I get alot of hum whenever I plug in my PODxt to my computer via usb.
I can alleviate these problems by

Removing power from the laptop and having it run on battery power alone (I've tried different outlets and different power strips)

Not using a tone setting with a lot of overdrive

unplug the usb (duh), but that makes recording slightly impossible (I think)

If I touch either pickup (humbucker) the hum goes away

I've done some reading, and appears as though this is a ground loop issue that there isn't a solution for (or one I found)
Granted I am on some heavy meds and my focus isn't the best.
Now this does not happen on all guitars equally

So, does anyone know how I can have my USB and eat it too?

Thanks in advance. Oh yea, I can control the hum with volume as well, but I lose the dirt if I lose the volume.

Pocket POD registered to my Account - Line6 Monkey says it is not.

I purchased a Pocket POD a few weeks ago. I have registered it to my account and it appears in my account correctly (see attached image: line6_registration_page.jpg Note: username in web account & Monkey the same; serial number blurred out intentionally). I used the Serial # from inside the battery compartment. When I launch Line 6 Monkey v1.31 and log into my account, it give me a dialog box stating, "It appears you have not registered your Pocket POD with your user account." (see attached image: line6_pocketmonkey.jpg). If I click "Register Now...", it takes me to my account page where it shows my device registered to my account. I followed your FAQ and ensured my serial number was in the form 'XXXNLNNNNNNNNNN'. I have tried the following with no success:

Logged out of Line 6 Monkey and log back in.
Waited 1 week to see if the serial number just needed time to associate.
Installed latest version of Line 6 Monkey on a different computer.
Deleted my registered device and re-registered it.

Current state of affairs: My device is currently registered to my account through the website, however Line 6 Monkey still shows it as unregistered.

Although the device is not registered it has allowed me to update to the latest firmware: 1.01, however I would like to ensure that my device is properly registered.

OS Info:

I have tried on 2 different machines running:

Windows Vista x86_32bit Professional and Ultimate.
Both are single boot systems.
The POD is recognized on both systems.
The Vyzex editor recognizes the device and I can control the POD through it.
Both machines are Intel Core 2 Duo, but running 32 bit versions of OS.
Both machines have 3 2.0 USB ports. I am connecting the POD directly to the computer.

Upgrade not working properly

I have a podxt live which is 4yrs old now. The problem that i am facing is that when i upgraded its flash memory with the newer version, line6 edit showed me the added amps and all but the thing is the patches dont work properly anymore. The reverb and delay didnt work for any settings. So i again rollbacked my version and now the delay and reverb are working properly and line6 is showing the earlier no. of amps.

Tried to download Java Environment on SunnSystems webpage, it says concerning Apple MAC System/OS

that the java on MACOSX is included and should check MAC UPDATE for the plateform but it cant find anything new or updates.

I just can't use my gears on my laptop. Especially my POD PRO XT (Updated and full ModelPacks options)

So what now ?

Recording vids directly to PC using Mic or USB plug

Hey I was wondering if this question/issue has came up in the past. I am trying to record a vid for youtube using my POD x3 live by using the webcam software provided with my PC. When I record direct, (mic or USB connection), there seems to be an audio clipping/dropout/chopping going on. I have adjusted the recording volume and that has cured the clipping issue so it records the full spectrum of the sound but it hasnt fixed the other problem. The volume dips on the recorded track and does not stay consistent. I think I have found a way to circumnavigate this issue but its somewhat of a headache by recording the video on mute and recording the track on Audacity Beta 1.3 (which is an awesome software!!) and then using windows movie maker to combine the two to overlay the tracks. If you have any ideas on how to remove that step I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

PS When is line 6 going to produce a cabinet/amp to support the POD family similar to the Tech 21 and the Atomic? You guys make great amps and modelers and I think you are really missing out on a great market niche.

Monkey doesn't show Pocket POD 1.01 flash update

Hello,

I'm a customer from Germany and bought a Pocket POD back in December, 2007.

Today I read about the 1.01 flash upgrade for my Pocket POD and downloaded the Monkey software v1.31.

I connect my Pocket POD to the power adaptor first and after this connect it to my PC with the Line 6 USB cable, no other cables are connected to the POD.

The POD works fine with the Vyzex v1.17 software, so I launched the Monkey (after closing the Vyzex software). It connects to my Line 6 Account but shows "There are no updates available" :-(

The Pocket POD is registered within my account and the Monkey doesn't show any message about device registration either.

The POD shows "Version 1.00" at startup...

Ok…I’m new to Line 6 products so forgive me if I sound ignorant & naïve about these products. I really could use some advice as to what products I need and how they work together. Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Ok…first, what I am looking for:

1. I want to plug my guitar directly into a PA and be able to get great sounds from it.

2. I also want to do some desktop recording. I currently use Garageband 09 and I really like the Pod Farm interface and would love to be able to integrate it with garageband for my guitar tones.

3. I need to use some of the patches from the custom tone site in order to replicate specific tones when performing covers.

4. While I really want to use a unit for performing live, I don’t like the idea of having to be hunched over my unit trying to dial in tones. I would love to be able to have all of the tones I will need worked out ahead of time and just be able to trigger them later by stepping on a pedal.

5. I am confused between the line 6 monkey, pod farm, and gear box software. I want to be able to control my unit with the computer and then take the unit to a gig to recall what I created on the computer.

Some questions I have:

What is the difference between using a Pod X3 or XT with a FBV Shortboard instead of the X3 & XT Live models? I like the idea of being able to play with the pod without bending over and still have triggers to use with my feet.

When using custom tone, is it as simple as downloading the patch from the site and triggering when stepping on a pedal?

I know that I can try running the programs in compatability mode, but I found a few responses saying they had problems with that also.

Pod XT ASIO drivers stop working in Cubase

I'm using a pod xt with Cubase SX. I need to run Monkey every time I use Cubase to get any sound in or out from the pod. When I don't do anything for a while, then try to use Cubase, I get no input or output until I run Monkey again, then it works. I don't need an internet connection for monkey to connect to - just firing it up lets Cubase use the pod again. Any ideas? cheers

PODxt Soundcard Problem

I get random clicks, pops, static bursts every once in a while when I use PODxt as a soundcard. It happens when I am using my recording software and when playing music with wmplayer or winamp etc. More when I am making music though. I believe it has got nothing to do with CPU because it sometimes goes clean for a long time when I am working on a project with tons of recordings, VSTis, automation and stuff; then it suddenly makes a killing sound burst on a project with just one midi track and a simple VST. I have three USB (2.0 I guess) ports on my laptop. I've got a midi keyboard, a wireless mouse and PODxt attached to them. Disabling my onboard soundcard and wireless LAN won't help. Trying different settings for ASIO stuff (sample rate, bit depth etc.) won't help either. The laptop had Vista 64 bit installed. I had the above problem and i decided to install XP and make the machine dual boot as Vista is no good for making music (and anything else as a matter of fact). The problem persisted in XP too. Then I read somewhere in the site that as dual-boot machines are instable (?) Line6 does not provide support for them. I hoped maybe this was the problem and made a format, and I installed only XP SP3 this time. Nothing changed. I would really appreciate any help, I tried everything I could think of. Peace.

Why Does My POD XT Live Go Mental?

I'm borrowing from a semi-off-topic post from a Bass Pod poster's thread here: http://line6.com/community/message/95307#95307. I have a guitar Pod XT Live with psycho gain management symptoms. While playing, the unit will spontaneously leap huge increments in volume, either upwards or downwards. I'll readjust my amp gain to compensate and then eventually, wham... off it goes to a radically different new volume setting. I'm not 100% on this, but I think I'm seeing this phenomenon more often when the unit is cold then after it has been powered on for some time.

Took it to an authorized repair shop in Wheaton, MD and after $100 and several round trips, it now seems to be a little worse.

No active electronics, just a passive Tom Anderson hollow drop-top directly into the unit. Cables are fine.

One thing I've noticed just by diddling with the thing, sometimes, immediately after one of these spontaneous gain changes, if I either (1) whack the volume pedal with my foot or (2) wiggle and reposition the "Drive" knob, the unit gain will restore to what it was just prior to the madness, but sometimes not. Last night I updated all of the unit software, reflashed the unit and calibrated the volume pedal. If I knew of any other possible remedies, I'd try them as well.

Is anyone aware of a calibration or reset procedure for all of the rotary encoders on the unit?

Because the unit is so flaky now (despite being well taken care of - no drops, etc.), I can't trust it in a live performance situation. The changes in gain are so prominent that it's disruptive to any performance. Also, like one of the other posters earlier in this thread, it's also becoming too much of a pain in the butt to practice or rehearse with. It's a shame because I am really fond of some of my home brew user patches, but I'm now afraid to use the thing.

Any deep knowledge Pod XT Live medicine men out there?

IRELAND + UK Power Supply for POD 2.0

The power supply for my 2.0 is crocked. I know this cus I took the unit into a shop in Derry and he took the power supply out of another POD on sale and plugged my unit in which worked perfectly. The shop has no power supply units in stock for sale on their own. Of course they can order them in but because we're not a major metropolitan area it could be weeks before the shop needs to place an order for stock with Line 6.

Every music shop between here and Galway I've visited and no one stocks Line 6. This fruitless drive around the country has peeved me right off.

Someone please sell me a UK (240/9V/1200w) Line 6 AC Power Supply or I'm gonna have to emmigrate. I'll buy it on line right now if you can point me in the right direction.

Permanently saving a custom tone to my Pocket Pod

Windows Vista 64 bit problems with ASIO Pod XT

When I run a DAW (cubase SX or Reaper), I get no input or output (even though I've selected the correct ASIO Pod XT drivers) until I start Monkey. Once Monkey starts everything works, for a while. Occasionally it'll stop working until I start Monkey again, and sound is once more. I can't recall having this trouble with these programs using Vista 32 bit.

Anybody know of any issues here?

Hi everyone,

I'm just bought a new laptop with Windows 7 on it and I can't seem to connect via USB. I've pulled out my old Vista laptop and everything is fine so I've updated all the drivers (not sure if it updates drivers within the Pod) and still nothing.

All I'm getting is the 3 duh duh duh's, so it's not feeling the device at all.

If anyone can help, I'd be grateful.

my name's Jacopo Tropia, I'm an Italian customer, I bought some days ago your product "line 6 pocket pod" I think it's really nice for a musician, but I got some problem with that: I'm using a small laptop, I would like to have, to download or to play with new customized sounds. As is written on the instruction manual, your "pilot's guide" I downloaded "Vyzex Pocket Pod" and I dowwnloaded also "line 6 monkey". I had the following problem, and I would like if is possible more information,advice or othe; I really like your product. 1) My laptop doesn't reach to connect with the pocket pod,

2) I don't have midi because my computer is a simple and common laptop, so Vyzeks doens't work 3) line monkey asked me what kind of instruments I have but it's not written pocket pod 4) It's impossible don't know why to register the product.

Why does my Bass Pod XT live go mental???

New forum and all the history dies, so I'll ask the question again.

When I use my Yamaha TRB5 through any other amp its perfect. When I use any other bass through my BOD xt Live still good. When i use my YamahaTRB5 through the BOD xt live it can be fine for 30 min and then 1/2 way through a song, the volume and trebble both go through the roof. The only way to correct it, is to unplug the input jack and then reconnect.

Any thoughts?

Hi,

I have a PodXT and I am trying to get it connected to my mac. I have a new MacBook (unibody one). Its running Leopard 10.5.6

I have downloaded the latest drivers, 4.1.0.

Its not detected in either Gearbox or Line6 Monkey.

I can connect to the PodXT using midi but GuiterPort Online doesn't support midi.

I've looked at a few posts on here and there are similar problems. Some have been solved by connecting directly to the mac rather than using a USB Hub. I have tried both and neither work.

Any help would be great.

I have just downloaded Edit but it will not work. First problem; "unable to download Java Runtime.

Then downloade Java (V6.17) from Sun site. Edit still unable to find Java.

From the FAQs files this seems to be a problem that has been around for at least 6 months. When are you going to fix it Line 6?

I have a pod xt and want to use it for things like reamping. I'm working on a macbookpro snow leopard. I can't connect the pod via USB, I have an error message on the preference panel. The gearbox tells me to update the usb firmware, but I can't do that with line6 monkey because ot the version of the firmware that does'nt allow to update with usb!

I found this workaround but I don't want to spend money just to update the firmware. Is there another way to get my pod xt working on snowleopard?

Q: My unit cannot update via USB, and I have Flash Memory 1.01. How do I update from Flash Memory 1.01 to a newer version?

A: First, verify if you have 1.01. Please hit the TUNER button and scroll using the SELECT knob to the last page. If you have a version later than 1.01, you can use your USB connection.

In order to update your PodXt from version 1.01 to the latest version, you will need to download Line 6 monkey (as described above) as well as a MIDI to USB interface. We recommend the MIDI SPORT UNO from M-AUDIO. Install the drivers for your interface, then run LINE 6 MONKEY with your POD XT unit connected to your interface. Click on the CONNECT USING MIDI CABLES button, and make sure that you see the MIDI IN and MIDI OUTS set to your interface. Then go through the FLASH MEMORY installation as described above. After this is done, you will be able to update your PODxt series unit using USB. See the following link for more information on connecting to your Line 6 unit via Midi:

Well I finally figured out my first problem, that was caused by having the device plugged into a hub.

So on to my second problem, again everything has been updated and computer meets specifications.

Now, everything is showing that the connections are good, and the pod shows up when I start Line 6 Edit, but when the Tone Locker tries to connect I am getting a midi timeout. At the same time the process bar is showing it trying to connect the display on the pod fade in and out not completely out just dim a little.

I also received the following message;

I recently bought a second-hand XT Live but I am unable to register it as it has been registered by a previous owner. (I contacted the guy I bought it from but he claims he bought it second-hand himself and it was already registered. I now have no way of contacting the guy who registered it.) i have purchased the floor pod plus about two weeks ago and the store i bought it from (your only importer in israel) didnt had a case(gig bag) for it.
they told me to came back in two weeks for it because they supposed to get a new shipment ,but after one week the store was closed and probably for good.

My unit recently began to cut out signal. It looks like it is re-booting almost, and then the sound will come back temporarily and it all starts over again. I had a PodxtLive too. I used to record a music in GarageBand with it. Just plug in the USB cable.

My POD 2.0 audio cuts out intermittently ONLY when in AIR- Amp mode (not when in direct mode). My Line 6 authorized service person suggested I reload the firmware to eliminate software issues before I bring it in for hardware troubleshooting. I downloaded the Motopod 2.54 file. I have updated Monkey and Line 6 Edit. How do I reinstall firmware through MIDI?

Problems with Download Java Runtime Environment for Line 6 Edit v 3.02

Hi,

I have Java 6 Standard Edition (Version 6, Actualization 17) on my computer.

Trying to download from Monkey v1.31 the Line6 Edit 3.02 brings the following errors:

'Unable to download the Java runtime environment 1.5.0 .Setup will continue. Line6 will not work until JRE is installed.'

When I try to download tones from customtone I get the error:

'Cannot find valid JRE'

and

'Could not init JNI Loader'

What shall I do? Without being able to download tones, my POD XT Live is not worth a lot for me.

Would be nice if you have a idea. If I have to install another Java Software, pleas tell me exactly where I get it. On the SUN-Website are so many versions. I feel lost.

Pocket POD: Is Cabinet Tuning of Amp Out jack Independent of Direct Out/Phones jack?

Here's the scenario: Let's say I want to feed the Amp Out into my Amp's FX Loop Return while simultaneously feed the Direct Out/Phones jack to the PA. I want the Amp Out sound to be without cab emulation, but I want the Direct Out/Phones sound to have cab emulation. Is this now possible given the recent fix of the Cab Tuning feature? If so, how do i set it up? The manual is silent as to whether this scenario is possible and it implies further that the Cab Tuning feature is specific only to the the Amp Out jack. Reamping issues W/ PodXT Pro

Hi there-

I'm attempint to capture affected trackes(S/P-DIF L&R) for RT performance/BU and a clean track for reamping which is coming from Unprocessed Guitar Out, but am having problems with my PODxt Pro sending a sample rate of 96k/24b through S/P*; When I set Digital Out to 48k, I get signal, but not at other rates. I've tried to sync to the host with 'Match SPDIF', and it doesn't lock. So I've attempted to achieve a lock by putting the input to SPDIF, with only inf. feedback loop when 48k is selected. no results with any other rate. My host session (interface driver) is set to internally clock at 96k. The interface is an M-Audio Profire 2626 (firewire, not that the connection is relevant).

The audio engine is Sonar8 producer. I do have POD Farm plugin, but latency is an issue until post-tracking.

Capturing the affected tracks arn't extremely critical, but would limit my options to capture & revert to my client's 'original' sound, since reamping at this sample rate (as well as time) is at issue, and jitter is introduced on the analog outs..

If you need more info, let me know.. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I've got a new laptop and trying to install Line 6 edit.

Windows Vista home premium.

During the install procedure, I get a msg at the end which says "unable to download the Java runtime environment".

I tried installing Java after this was done, but L6 edit still does not open.

I tried un-intalling L6 edit and re-installing, but still get the msg.

There are many, many posts to the forum about this issue, so many that I don't know what I'm supposed to do.

Please advise.

About two weeks ago or so I noticed that sometimes when I flipped on my POD XT Live the yellow screen would light up blank; nothing else woudl come on. It happened more and more frequently since then and now that is all that happens. Except, sometimes the AMP, STOMP, and MOD pedals light up red as well.

I've tried everything (unplugging, different power outlet, starting it holding down SAVE and EDIT, etc.) I'm growing very frustrated because I have an audition coming up.

I contacted the only service guy in my area (Kansas City....really? Only one?) and he said if it as something that needs work it would probably cost $400 or so. Are you kidding me? That's more than I paid for the thing.

Somebody...give me the fix. Tell me how to fix this thing. I'm desperate....please!!!

I just bought a new computer (Intel core i5, Asus p7d55d motherboard, 4 gb ram, Windows 7 home premium 64-bit)
I istalled the latest Line 6 drivers for Windows Vista/XP since there was none for Windows 7 (why?). Anyway,
it all went nice and smooth.
When I try to re-activate the add-on (Metal pack) in Line 6 Monkey 1.31, the progress bar when "programming
hardware" goes up to about 80%, then an error message appears;

"Transaction failed.
Reason: (Code 80007104) Failed write to firmware"

I know it's not my hardware that is failing (USB ports, cable whatever).
In the Help & Info bar the following message appears:

      "There was an error determining which Add-Ons you have installed. ((Code 80007506) The asset table in the hardware is corrupt.)
      Click the 'Reinstall' button to fix this problem (you must be connected to the Internet)
      Call Customer Service if you click 'Reinstall' and still see this error.

So, this re-activation B***S*** has actually corrupted the software in the PODxt,
and made the Metal pack disappear from my POD?
Sorry, i'm really disappointed.

I have been using a POD 2.0 for about two years now and love it along with the floorboard. The Wah stopped working -- no sweep -- so I took it to an electronics place in Rochester, NY -- worked for a short time. Now nothing. I bought a new Floorboard that was at House of Guitars last week. Again, no wah. Is it possible it's my POD that is causing this to happen? I find it unlikely that two floorboards, one fresh out of the plastic in a new package, don't work.... wondering if it's possible it's my POD 2.0.

Hello,

I can't find anywhere to specifically address this issue. I'm thinking of selling my current PODxtLive and BassPODxt so I can get a PODX3Live. I just love the 'everything in one place' idea, with both guitar and bass as well as vocal options, and mixing and matching them, plus dual tone. But, you know all this, don't you?

What vexes me is not knowing, before I do this, whether I can use the Varriax input for ALL my Variax guitars. I've got the Variax700 Electric, Acoustic AND Bass guitars. Will I be able to plug them all in to the PODX3Live (Obviously, not at the same time)? If the answer is 'yes', then that puts me over the edge. Thanks for your time.

PodXT USB Firmware Update

I am the original owner of PoDXT SN:21SPD1H5250014583.

I have tried in vain to update via Monkey to USB Firmware 1.12 from 1.00.

I was able to update the flash memory to 3.01 but the USB firmware upgrade says that it completes but then I get this error:

"There was an error communicating with your device. If it is a USB device, try disconnecting then reconnecting the USB cable."

Error:(Code 8000900C) MIDI device timed out waiting for response."

Duh!

I have tried from both Vista and Win2kPro with the same results.

What's the dealio?

Hi,

I bought the bassexpansion bundle over internet, it must have installed right in my pod because... When I using Internet I have an "internetpc". I am downloading, save it on an USBmemory and then install on my MUSICPC wich is not hooked up with Inet. Now when I open Gearbox in my MusicPC I have the BASSbundle and can manipulate the sounds as with the guitarsounds, but in my physical POD xt LIVE I don`t see any of the BASSAMPS wich make it difficult to use the XT Live without a computor What am I doing wrong?

PODxt Flash Memory Installed Version Listed as "-" in Monkey

Monkey says the newest version of Flash Memory is "3.01", but that my installed version is "_". The "Update Selection" button is greyed out. Instead of a Green Checkmark, or a Yellow Exclamation Point, there's a Grey Question Mark.

My PODxt version information lists "v3.01", USB 1.12.

I'm not sure if I have to do anything, or can.

Ok, so I've had my POD 2.0 for about 2 years now and I just found out that it's possible to connect it to a computer and download custom tones. My problem is that I cannot find a MIDI interface cable that gets the job done. I went to Guitar Center (where I purchased said POD) and asked if they carried the correct cable to which they replied, "I don't know, none of us has ever done that before." I've been to every other music shop in Spokane and I'm amazed to find that none of them knows anything about my POD 2.0 or how to connect it to my computer. I bought a cheap Chinese (the packaging literally has no manufacturer logo or name on it whatsoever) MIDI to USB cable from a local cable shop and it doesn't work at all. If anyone knows of a MIDI to USB cable or other interface setup that actually works I would very much appreciate the input. Oh, and I'm running Windows Vista 64 on my PC. Please don't ask why... I ask myself that very same question every time I start up my machine and I don't have an answer yet.

For the Pod XT Live, I purchased a special a while back for the Collectors Classic and the metal shop. Installed those OK and they worked fine. Later, I wanted the bass pack, and noticed it was cheaper to buy the bass pack with the collectors classics, than it was to just buy the bass pack. When I installed that, the metal shop rigs dissappeared. Is there a way with what I've purchased to get all three to work together? Thanks.

on my gig we set up and did sound check,the pod pro xt worked great like italwats did, so it was our turn in an hour so we waited then we got up to play. my guitar made no sounds so i turned it off then i turned it back on. the monkey did not show up or anything. the screen is just lit up, the tap button is on the clip light and so is the signal light is on. can you guys help me out i connected it to my computer to get it checkd out but the minkey on the computer says everything works fine, i also tried to save a bundle and that did not work it saud error. im really bumed out i have had this for years and now its doing this. i hope you guys can help me and have a great day, my name is roman and my email is synystersoloest@aol.com

I am looking for a solution that would allow me to have a solid, dependable, quality USB connection to my PC but also give me the most distance from the PC that I can get. The simplest thing would be to find some sort of USB Hub or USB extender that is 100% line6 compatible so I could have say a 6ft-8ft USB cable from my computer go to the hub, then the std. distance from the Hub to the Toneport. The idea is to get everything except the laptop off the stage but still use the toneport for Vocals & Audio output to the mixing board.

Has anyone any ideas on the best way to achieve this type of setup?

Hey guys,

Well I bought my Pod around a year ago when I was playing a Marshall MG100HDFX - going through the FX loop I pulled a decent sound out of it. I have since upgraded to an ENGL Invader 150 (good lord, I cannot describe how perfect that head is!)

Now when I connect my Pod to my head (I've tried running it in the front as well as through the FX loop) it literally cuts my tone in half. The ENGL has amazing distortion, but even with EVERYTHING off (Amp modelling, Effects, Compression etc.) it completely destroys my tone.

Help! While my guitar sounds amazing through the head alone, and it's not the guitar (PRS Custom 24), but I miss my effects!

Connecting POD 2.0 to the computer

Hi.

I am new with all this. I bought a POD because I met someone that recently began playing electric guitar(a customer).

He told me that POD 2.0 was cool, because I could download effects and stuff.

Now I'm standing and not knowing "how" to download these effects.

The problem is not how to install the program or actually download the effects.

The problem is that I don't know how to connect my POD to the computer.

I tried using a jack cable connected to the right and left output slots in the POD and then

I used the other side of the jack and connected it to what seemed like the "line in slot"

to my sound card. It says Line In at the back of my cabinet. We are talking about a static computer.

I tried using that filemonkey software but it couldn't detect that my POD was in.

Should I use another software or am I doing it all wrong?

I also bought a stealthplug because I was told that it could help me to connect the POD to my computer

and edit the music.

I don't know how to activate my sound card to communicate with my POD. How do I do that?

Am I even writing the right place? All this is very confusing and I could really need some support from someone.

And I use windows XP.

I really want to download some metal effects or maybe some effects with Eric Clapton so it could be cool if someone could link a guide

that I need or at least tell me what to do :=)

I have had 2 problems:

1. The following error message appears at install: "The system extension " / system / Library / Extensions / Line6Audio.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. Contact the product vendor for an update" I have attempted instal 4 times with the same result

2 The software does not detect the hardware. When the USB is connected a message appears: "You need to restart your computer hold down the power button.." On restarting the computer and reconnecting the USB the message is repeated.

I am looking at a Bass PODxt Pro and want to use just the rear connections as the FX unit via my Hartke amp FX loop. This may be knit picking but I wan't to use the Hartke 12AX7 preamp before I hit the PODxt. Is it possible to leave the FX loop out to the line in on the POD and send the processed signal to the FX return on the amp?

I need to switch quickly on occassion from bass to 6 srting electric. Is it possibe to install a few basic 6 string patches on my bass pod XT Live. i would like to just unplug my guitar cable from one instrument to the other and select an appropriate patch on the pod. I'm playing direct through the PA - no amp on stage. Sound tech would be resposible to adjust each instrument for the mix. I monitor through aviom.

Pod XT Live Not Recognized by OSX 10.5.8 anymore! USB? Drivers? Help!?

I'm running Mac OSX 10.5.8. I've been using my pod on here for years without any issues or problems. Then all of a sudden the other day it just stopped recognizing the device. I plug it in and the dot doesn't light up on the pod nor does any of the line 6 software see the device.

Here's what my pod reads currently:

POD XT Live v 3.01

USB v 1.12

ESN 01423967

I've updated the drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled everything I can think of, tried different USB ports and cables... and still nothing. Has anyone else had this problem and figured out how to fix it??

Please help, I have to update several of my tones for an upcoming show. Yikes!

Hi, just a quick question. When the "Tap(Hold)" button flashes, there is a pulsing noise with each flash. Is there a way to eliminate that sound? The POD Version 2.0 has been great in the studio apart from that noise that is very distracting during quiet parts, so much so, that it makes the unit unusable. Hey guys,

So i just bought this POD UX1 yesterday and I installed it last night, it was all set up and everything looked good. I plugged in my guitar to the instrument input, but i had no sound. I think I am getting an audio signal, the green bars are going up when i play a note but there is no sound whatsoever. I have the Line 6 POD farm disc in, it is installed and everything, i have the USB cord attached from the POD UX1 to my computer. If someone could help that would be awesome.

POD Question

I own a POD that I upgraded with the newer EPROM (It reads pod 2.0 when depressing the manual button and turning on the power and then it goes to 3, so I guess it is 2.3 software?).

I have a Line 6 Floor Board as well. These were purchased at different times.The POD case has a plug -in that is marked "PEDAL" so the POD should not be compatible?

My dilemma is that the board does work in every aspect except that I have volume issues with some selections. That is to say that some selections are very loud and some require volume increases through either the guitar or the floor board pedal. Many are the same volume however.

Would the board not work at all or is it possible that it could function "partially" as in the volume issue?

What would you suggest I do if I need to replace one or both of these components?

I am not a gearhead so could use some very simple advise on the above question as well as the best way to connect the POD to my Peavey Classic 30 amp & 112 extension cab.

I would greatly appreciate your help.

PODXT FVB Shortboard wont switch banks??

Hi, I have a pod xt and a fvb shortboard. When I plug in the fvb shortboard the board lights up to channel one, but will only switch the banks DOWN and when it does lets say switch to bank 34 it starts blinking and I cant change from patch 1 to 2 and so on. the fx loop doesnt light up either... but the fx switches seem to still turn the FX on and off.

if you try to switch the banks up nothing....if you switch down it just starts blinking the channels.

The unit hasnt been dropped or banged around at all in fact it has a case ...

I have switched RJ45 cables ...no diffrence

I have used a 2 channel footswitch in place of the fvb shortboard ...it changes the banks up and down fine.

Is there some kind of calibration I can reset or have any of you heard about an issue like this.

So, i have a problem connecting my POD 2.0 to my computer. It just simply doesn't work !

When i open Line6 Edit i have absolutely no device to choose from, and when i open Line6 Monkey the POD 2.0 isn't listed...

Here's what i have tried already and the gear i'm using:

First i bought a Midi to USB cheap cable (Swissonic). It didn't work, so i sent it back and got a M-Audio Midisport UNO, which is more expensive, and should work properly.

I have tried different versions of Line6 Monkey and Edit. None of them work. I have installed both the Midisport drivers from the CD and from their website (not at the same time ofcourse) and it doesn't work.

I have tried plugging the cable with the POD turned off and turning it on on the device choice page, or doing it with the POD anlreay plugged in, neither worked.

I have downloaded the Flash thing but i don't know where to put it or how to open it.

There's simply no way to make it work

Pardon me if this is a really dumb question. I have a laptop running Windows XP that is replacing an old desktop computer. I will be installing some music recording/editing software (vendor not yet selected - but something very easy to use). I plan to connect my drum machine and synthesizer module to the computer and control them with the software. My old desktop had a game controller to MIDI port that was used to send MIDI information to these devices. My laptop only has USB. I was going to purchase a USB-to-MIDI adapter. But it occurred to me, can I just use the XT Live to act as the USB-to-MIDI adapter? That is, can I connect the laptop to the XT Live via USB and then chain the drum machine and synth to the XT Live via its MIDI ports?

Feedback problems with POD

For both my solo and gain sounds I have a lot of feedback trouble. I need to have the noise gate settings very tight (decay around 15% and threshold 15%). I use the Spinal Puppet amp, but i dont have more than1 o clock gain.

I think most of the noise comes from me using the screamer stomp box. I need this to get the sound I want and in the start I had it set on 100% for both level, gain and tone. Now I have reduced both to 60% but still it makes a lot of noise. And when I say noise, I really mean it. It's pretty extreme. If I just turn of the noise gate the POD immediately starts to make a lot of noise even if I mute all the strings...

I think it's very strange I need to use this much noise gate because it reduces all sustain... Honestly it's my only problem with the Pod.

What is the reason for all the noise? Can it be reduced somehow??

Just a quick question :

I own a POD XT and use that for recording through a splitter to get both a clean and a distorted signal into ProTools.

Recently I purchased PODfarm, in order to be able to re-amp my clean tracks within ProTools. And it works just dandy.

So the question is : If I buy, say the Metal Shop effects pack for the POD XT - will this pack also be available in PODfarm, or do I have to purchase the pack twice?

- sorry if this is a silly question, but it occured to me that the addons you buy, register to the hardware you choose, so I was just wondering.

POD Studio UX2 drivers - ASIO vs WDM question

I recently purchaced my first Line 6 product, the POD Studio UX2. My current recording set-up includes: a Dell running XP (SP2) / M-Audio Delta 1010 / Sonar 5. I have spent many hours over the last few days trying to get everthing working together and my question is about UX2 drivers.

Here is a description of what I have figured out so far:

When I have the driver mode in Sonar set to ASIO I can enable the drivers for 1 sound card at a time. As a result I can use either the Delta 1010 OR the UX2 but not at the same time. In this configuration (i.e., the UX2 using ASIO drivers) the UX2 will record with a bit depth of 24 and it supports a sample rate of 48000hz.

When I have the driver mode in Sonar set to WDM, I can enable both the Delta 1010 AND the UX2 but when I do this, the whole project is reset to a sample rate of 44100Hz.

My question is this:

Do the WDM drivers for the for the UX2 support a sample rate of 44100Hz? I am assuming they do and I am just missing something obvious.

Pod Pro 2.0 MIDI problems...

I have a Pod Pro 2.0 and when I hook it up through my Roland Sp-555 via MIDI a error pops up that says "Your Pod Pro 2.0 has stopped responding" Then it says to reset the power and try again, but it still won't work.

This is my first MIDI experience and I have had a few ups and downs so far but this is as far as I can get without any help.

When the error occurs the Pod itself shut MIDI off so the MIDI button is no longer lit.

I got no clue what to do next Any help would be appreciated.

Same for me and i see lots of ppl with that problem

I did search and found out lots of ppl with this problem and even after reflashing in safe mode or what ever problem remains the same

I believe it had something to do with the latest firmware/modelpacks/flash memory update files

So we need Line6 to fix this problem cause its just doesnt seems to be a problem on our end

*one thing i found out, with this problem, if i turn the pod off and on for like 50 times it will turn on eventualy, the screen will remain orange but u can work with it with gearbox and play

If u have this problem Please Post here and we try to get all info in one discussion and hopfuly get a fixed file or something from line 6

I got some problems with my POD, i dont think its even 2.0 because, as i red on the older version above pedal input there is "pedal" mark. Generally i can't hear a sound, i tried L\R outputs, and headphones. Even tuner does'nt work so its propably an input problem. I took of back cover of POD, cleaned everything, checked if sockets are ok, and i think everything is in good condiction.I dont know what to do, its second hand stuff and warranty expired long time ago.

I've never tried to connect this POD to computer.

Ok I am new to this type of effects system. Basically when hooked this up to my amp it just sounds like garbage. I tried following the instructions but no matter what I do these effects are just horrible. I have a line six spider III amp, clean channel is set, etc.. I remember back in the day when you hooked an effects unit into your amps effects loop it sounded great, nothing major to do but with this it is not the case. Any help on hooking this up right and setting it properly would be appreciated. At this point all I can say is because of my ignorance with this stuff, I am not very happy with the unit.

I started this query a couple of weeks ago because I couldn't get any sound via my pod xt or KB37 from any program on my computer until I had started Monkey. I got ill last week and couldn't get to my computer so Line 6 marked it as answered after a couple of days .....so here goes.

I bought a new Dell Studio 1557 specifically for recording (no laughing at the back there). It came with windows 64 bit Vista SP2..(waits for howls of derision to stop). I have since ordered a free Windows 7 upgrade and now feel I am digging an even bigger hole. It's quite high spec and has the fast hard drive (7200) etc.

Anyroads, when I first installed the xt drivers, KB37 drivers, pocket pod software, Gearbox, Pod Farm, Monkey and music software (Cubase SX2, Reaper 64 bit trial, Guitar Pro), I could get no sound in or out of whatever device was connected (xt or KB37). I have no other USB devices attached, not even a mouse or keyboard.

When I played a file in the music software programs (or Windows Media, web browser etc), I couldn't hear anything although the transport panel cursor was moving.

When I opened Monkey however, everything worked, until I opened another project.

I uninstalled everything.

I installed my music software programs one at a time, tested then uninstalled them. This was without any Line 6 stuff installed.

They all performed fine using the default sound. I uninstalled everything (or so I thought)

I checked Windows media and youtube to see if I got sound from the computer. I did. I then plugged the xt in via USB (no drivers loaded). Predictably, the onboard sound ruled supreme through speakers and headphones.

Now I loaded JUST the xt drivers, nothing else. Windows found and installed the drivers, and the device. The pod is fully up to date with regard to flash, drivers etc. and connected to a 15W marshall practice stack via the Left Output. This has always worked no problem.

I checked pod xt (2 Speakers) came up in my options dialog box, which indeed they did, and were selected by default. Yippee. Device working properly etc, check.

No sound.

I looked in Control Panel (Windows), and lo, there was the Audio-midi control panel still there. It wasn't uninstalled via the Line 6 Uninstaller and there was no option in Add/Remove Programs to uninstall. Still, I opened it, changed the default rate to 24, clicked Apply and the sound came on! Through my amp.

I closed everything down, waited a while, opened windows media, started a track - no sound.

I opened Line 6 Audio-midi control panel, it had reverted to 16 bit, pulled down the menu again to 24, then changed it back to 16, clicked Apply - sound happened.

So to sum up..I get no sound via my pod xt until I open Line 6 Audio-midi control panel, then I just need to do something (anything) and the sound comes on.

I can't troubleshoot anything anymore because I cannot remove Line 6 Audio-midi control panel, there is no option anywhere.

I believe this to be the root cause of my trouble, but I can't do anything about it.

After accidentally deleting Java 5 today I had to re install Edit to get it back. However Sun no longer will be supporting Java 5 as of Oct 30 and the Edit install program could not find it on Sun's website.

I manually installed it from an achive on their site and everything is good. However....

My question is this.... Is Line 6 going to release a new version of Edit that runs on Java 6 exclusively or are we going to have to keep Java 5 which is no longer supported, and won't have security updates, opening us up to risks?

Just got a pocket pod and I'm a bit disappointed that the volume levels between presets vary widely. SOme are very faint and others are so loud that the level is uncomfortable even with my little 15 watt amp turned right down.

I installed your latest editor for first Pod Pro- the one that says "Supports JRE 6"- well I had jre 6 before installing the editor- but during the installation line 6 installer said I must be connected to install Java 6- what the hell!? I already have JRE 6!!- now after the install is done it wont open because Line 6 editor says it can't find Java6- I looked at my program list and sure enough I cant find it either- why is this software so problematic?? One song has Roland COSM amp models for guitar and the other song has PodXT on the guitars. One song has Bass PodXT on electric bass and the other song has all Roland effects on electric bass. Your job, if you wish to accept this assignment, is to figure out which devices go with which songs. Whoever gets the most correct will get the next Virtual aardvark Golden Ear award. I'm having a problem running L6 edit on my computer. This seems to be a common problem, on the forums there are several unresolved posts related to this same thing.

I also own a guitar PODxt that works fine with edit. My best guess is that its a java conflict. Any suggestions? How about a new flash on L6 monkey for all the thousands of bass players out there.

Severe driver issues - Mac 10.5.6 & Pod XT 4.1.0

I installed the driver update and afterward all the system audio playback was shredded. Stuttering, distorted, etc.

I tried rebooting, and restarting the Pod. No change.

I ran the driver uninstaller and rebooted. Then installed 4.0.1 drivers.

I got the /System/Library/Extensions/Line6Audio.kext was improperly installed error.

Ran the uninstaller again. Repaired disk permissions. Installed 4.1.0 drivers and rebooted.

I got the /System/Library/Extensions/Line6Audio.kext was improperly installed error yet again.

I've tried several combinations of uninstall, permissions repair, reboot, etc and now I can't get the driver to load at all. Every single time I reboot and plug the pod in, I get the improperly installed error.

Apart from the USB connection my device is working properly.

I can also see it (and update flash memory via Monkey) using MIDI cables (with MidiSport 2x2).

It was starting not working long time ago during an update session...

So I'm convinced that is just needed to "reprogram" the device to let it back to work!...

I made an attempt to update the firmware of a recently bought Pocket Pod. Although following the instructions in the manual the update failed and now it is not possible to get the thing up and running again. The only thing shown on the display is "FlashUpdate 1.00". How can I fix this?

I run Windows XP and use Vyzex Pocket Pod 1.10. The Pocket Pod used to work before my update attempt...

Actually tried a number of different files to download and all are reacting the same. I'm on a Mac and have tried downloading on both Safari and Firefox. Floor Pod Problem

Sometimes my floor pod would be working normally, and then suddenly go into a soft, muffled tone without any changes being made to the settings. This isn't just for an individual preset, even when i change patches the problem still persists. In clean patches there is virutally no sound. When i turn off the power to the floor pod and turn it back on again the sound reverts back to normal.

Is this a problem with my unit?

Hi guys!

Lately I've been noticing some really bad problems with my Pod XT Live. In particular, when I'm playing it starts to "modulate" the volume from 40% do 100%. It does so for a while and then settles down on 40%. When recording, this has become a noticable problem, same with playing live. I tried living with the 40% for some time (the pedal calibration gets messed up every time) and compensate with the volume on the back, but, sometimes the volume spikes to a 100% which is even worse.

I tried calibrating the volume pedal, I tried recalibrating the volume pedal, I tried cleaning the internals (it would be much easier if the volume pedal weren't connected like it is, not to mentioned the connectors being glued!!), but nothing seems to work

Does anybody have any idea what I can do? So far, I've just disabled the volume pedal on some presets I use the most but that's a temporary solution, wah doesn't work either...

Hey this is for the Line6 people,

I purchased this product and Line6 claims you can download patches etc... for this unit but nothing as of late.

I feel that line6 is pushing this unit out and dont want to have any support for it . So please Line6 why is it that

hard for you guys to create some library for us people that have when out and spent soo much money on a unit

with out a libray of patches like the others. I have been reading and truthfully I cant see it taking you guys that long

to create something for the floor pod plus unit.

Been trying to do this since the podxt pro came out. There is documentaiont about midi I know, it's over my head. Adding effects post is not fun, feels dry. I'd like to record more, being able to sync my tempo will save the day. The day is almost over. If there is anyone out there that can assist it would help me to acheive one of the few tasks I would like to achive. Simple, few, a tempo sync with my pod.

I started using Line 6 when I first started using logic, that was when I registered here and I started trying to find how to sync my guitar effects with logics tempo. I think I have found clues to get me to where I want to be. Seriously, I will dance in the streets when I get to have my rifts sound tight while recording.

I have a used XT Live that I am having probelms with getting it to recognize.

I am currently running vista64

When I am in Monkey it see the xt live but shows the esn as unknown,

My drivers, and firmware are all showing up to date. and all have been re-installed a couple of time.

I have tried all six different USB port on the PC it self.

I have tried it on my laptop and it shows the same.

I have tried a different cable, and the same again.

When I go to the "optional add-on" tab, in the help box, i see:

There was an error determining which Add-Ons you have installed. ((Code 80007506) The asset table in the hardware is corrupt.)

Click the 'Reinstall' button to fix this problem (you must be connected to the Internet)

Call Customer Service if you click 'Reinstall' and still see this error.

I click re-install and instantly show error and message shows that says:

Transaction Failed

Reason: (Code 80003009) Server error reading and writing firmware

If you have popup blockers, anti-spyware, anti-virus programs

running, Try temporarly diabeling them

I have disable and shut off everything I can find that would be considered one of these and still no luck.

I have looked on the device it self and I have a ESN number and it is not all zero's.

It shows XT Live v3.01

usb v1.12

esn: (not sure if I should post it but it's there)

I had it there when I first started working with it and had problems with the registation and got that resolved and now I can't loan the pack I have purchased.

Hi, I'm wondering if it's possible toto connect the floor pod infront or in the effects loop of an amplifier, however i only want to use the modulation, delay and wah effects, and want to bypass the amp modelling. I'm already happy with the basic sound of my amp and hence don't want the amp modelling of the pod to effect this, but would find it very useful if i could utilise the floor pod for effects alone. Is this possible? If it is how would i go about entering this mode?

Power Supply Concerns

Hi,

I noticed the other day that my podxt power supply is making quite an audible buzzing noise. I just checked the output with a multimeter and found that it reads 10.6V instead of the expected 9V printed on the transformer. Am I right in thinking that the transformer is malfuntioning and pumping too much juice into my xt?

P.O.D. 2.0 and FBV2 don't work together!

Hi!

I short time ago I bought a second hand P.O.D. 2.0.

A week later a bought a FBV2 as thougn it might be usefull while recording/playing to

switch between the channels in a bank.

I was in the opinion that the FBV2 would work like on a Spider or other Line 6 amplifier:

With the left button you can switch down and with the right button you can switch up.

However, doesn't work that way on a P.O.D. 2.0, both buttons only switch down.

I checked the P.O.D. 2.0 and all software is up to date.

I checked with shop where I bought the FBV2:

The FBV2 works well on a Line 6 4-channel amp: Up and down

We also checked the FBV2 on a P.O.D. 2.0 from stock: Same problem, only switching down.

Maybe Line 6 people can confirm if my conclusions are right and if this is going to change in future!

Windows says POD XT Live driver installation failed, cannot proceed with installing POD XT drivers?

I'm running a Variax 700 through a POD XT Live, and using workbench on Windows Vista on an HP DV9000 series laptop. Everything was working fine until i tried updating the firmware on all my devices using the Line6 Monkey. Since then, none of the applications are recognizing that my POD XT is connected to the laptop. I tried reinstalling the POD XT drivers, and when it asks me to connect my device using the USB cable, I do, and Windows fails to automatically install the drivers for the POD. I even tried restoring Windows to a previous state, and tried reinstalling all the software and drivers, but it still gives me a driver installation failed error. Everything was working fine, I had made custom tones, and i loved them, but now everything's gone to hell! What to do?

I am trying to connect to my MOTU traveler interface via S/PDIF, but can't seem to get any input signal to it. Under the I/O & Dig select menu I chose to match S/PDIF in, but when I press it twice for the "what are you connecting to?" screen, it does not let me choose anything other than studio direct, and there is no option for fx loop or digout. Dest is all that appears but I can't change it. My MOTU interface appears to be set up and working properly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello my friends!

I've bought my XT Live 2 days ago (it's used). All good, except PC - connection. When I'm trying to connect device into PC USB port, the system error message is occured (it is a windows usb connection error dialog-message "device is not installed... etc.. device can not be installed, because it works incorrectly..." ). Monkey and XT Live drivers are installed (following all steps). I've tried to re-install all possible drivers, re-connected usb-cable into all ports, trying it on other PCs - nothing has changed. And another funny question. If I have installed XT live drivers, why Monkey says, that it's not installed?.. may be because installing is beginning since the system detect not "Unknown device", but POD XT live... I dont know... Help please..

Just bought a Pocket Pod and would like to update to the new flash ver. via L6 Monkey by my Vista Home Prem. laptop won't recognize my PP. When I plug in the USB it automatically searches for a driver/ then says: USB Device Not Recognized etc.. Is there any trick to getting the Pocket Pod setup as a Midi device in Vista that I should be trying? (For what it's worth Vyzex can't see my PP either when I am asked to select input midi device.)

Got myself a new USB/MIDI interface thingy (& am just starting to learn how to get custom tones with it)

Apparently, there's some Java "bug" that interferes w/ Line 6 Edit?

I'm a noob at all this. I Googled the problem & found like, 3 different suggestions on what version of Edit or Java to download.

I am totally in the dark & have downloaded/confused the heck outta myself now.

All I know is, I use XP, I have Java (jre 1.6_07) though I also see jre6, j2re1.4.2_03, jre1.5.0_04, and jre1.5.0_11 in the folder too.

What on earth am I *Supposed* to have to get this to work & How??

Seems I may've solved the Java problem. I read elsewhere that I had to uninstall java, reboot, then run Line 6 Edit & it'd put it the correct version of Java itself.

Well, though now I do see the Line 6 Edit menu come up this time, I cannot configure my POD.

Says no MIDI device detected.

Now what??

Diagnose grounding hum/buzz on Floor Pod Plus?

I am trying to correctly diagnose a grounding hum/buzz problem on my Floor Pod Plus. Whenever I use my FP+ at home going into my amplifier, or simply into my headphones, I never have a problem. (One caveat: I do get some slight hum/buzzing when I use some high gain settings, but these are rather easily eliminated by using a proper gate setting on the Floor Pod Plus).

However, whenever I take my FP+ to my church and plug the unit into the sound system via a Radial JDI MK3 Passive direct box, I get the big dreaded grounding hum and buzz. I am confident that it is a grounding issue since if I touch the guitar pickup, or anything metal on the guitar or on the FP+ itself, the hum/buzz (mostly) goes away. I guess I could play with a grounding strap on my wrist, but that doesn't seem very workable. Besides, the hum/buzz is still noticeable if I crank up the signal volume.

If I plug my guitar straight into the direct box, I do NOT get the hum/buzz, so I'm pretty confident that the cabling is just fine. The hum/buzz has been getting worse and worse over the past few weeks, such that using tricks to try to gate the signal on the mixing board eventually killls the gain/signal-strength coming from the FP+.

In the past, we have unplugged and re-plugged the patch cord on the sound system's patch panel in a closet, and that sometimes fixes the problem. But now that isn't even working. If I put my headphones into the FP+, I can pick up the hum/buzz there, too. But if I disconnect the main output going into the sound system's direct box, the hum/buzz goes away.

What is REALLY aggravating is that my other guitar player uses a Pod XT and he isn't getting ANY type of hum or buzz. It is just me!

What could be the problem? Could there be something coming loose in my Floor Pod Plus that needs to be fixed? If so, what is the recommended solution?

I have been reading that it could be a ground loop problem. But it would be near to impossible to isolate with our sound system. So perhaps, could something like an ART Clean Box II or an Ebtech HE-2 be used to eliminate the problem? I want to make sure I have exhausted all other possibilities before I make the investment in another device -- these boxes are not exactly cheap. And besides, why would this necessarily fix the issue when my fellow axe handler is running troublefree using his Pod XT?

Pod XT: Can I use an electric keyboard or bass guitar with it without damaging it?

Just like the title says, I wanted to know if I plug in my electric keyboard or bass guitar into my XT, will it damage the input jack or something else? My keyboard has a 1/4" phones/output jack that I would use to run keyboard -> XT -> computer. I use an atomic amp but I won't have it connected when I do this so I'm not worried about amp damage. My concern is if the XT's input is capable of handling the keyboard output. I also want to do the same thing with my bass guitar. Also, my electric keyboard has drums that I enjoy playing and I would want to record them as well. I have a Casio WK-3000 in case you need to know that.

computer noise in brand new floor pod plus

I just bought a new Floor Pod Plus from Sweetwater, and just out of the box it produces an unbearable noise, all the time, no matter what settings are on. This happens through my PA and through headphones. The noise is not in synch with any effects or amp model; it sounds like a hard drive is whirring inside the Floor Pod.

This happens even with the unit plugged into a conditioned line all by itself, and also in other outlets. I'm pretty sure it's not a ground loop. I don't have problems with ground loops in my studio. This noise is different from ground loop hum, anyway. The sound is similar to the noise that a poorly insulated sound card picks up from a hard drive, but it's coming from within the Floor Pod Plus.

Do I have a defective unit? I'd hate to ship it back, but it's just not usable at all. I've not found anything about this anywhere else on the web. Any help would be appreciated. Firmware upgrades? Something obvious that I'm missing?

Whilst I love the product in theory, in practise the rubberized pins that push into the holes on the POD don't seem quite big enough. There is a bit of friction when you push them in, but if I pick the POD up without supporting the Mount, the Mount instantly falls away under its own weight. I presumed the rubber pins would fit more snuggly than this so that the POD would be a little more securely attached to the Mount. So I wondered what your opinion is on this and - if you think it sounds faulty - whether I might be able to get four more rubber pins to try out with the Mount?

Also, I understand that you can use screws to attach the POD to the Mount. Should the Mount have come with some screws (mine didn't), or is it up to us to source them? If it is up to us, do you have any details about what type of screws need to be used - in terms of diameter, and more importantly length (I don't want to use screws which are too long and end up interfering with or breaking the PCB or electronics inside).

I would really appreciate any help on this

My POD 2.0 seems to have gone crazy.

First thing that happened was that tones kept disappearing. Preset 6B which I like a lot would just transform itself into a clean tone, nothing like the preset.It would then come back but now won't any more. I've done a re-set & all the presets have changed. Some seem to have acquired more dirt but most of them are just clean and the 6B I knew & loved seems to be gone forever.

Second problem - the buttons on the POD don't seem to be functioning properly. If I modify a tone, the values I set using the buttons aren't correct if I check via Line 6 Monkey & my computer.( Yes I did syncronise before checking ! ! ) For example I set treble at 3 using the button on the POD, I find it's say at 70% on my computer screen. All of the buttons seem to have this problem.So if I set a tone using the buttons it's all wrong & not the same as if I set it using my computer.

Third problem - using my POD as a front end to my amp, it has developed crackles & hisses - but not through the headphones. If I unplug the POD the amp stops crackling.

I noticed that I had accidentally connected the amp to the right output on the POD instead of the left. Have I blown something up by doing this ? ?

What can I do to get my POD working properly again ?

I bought the line 6 pod 2.0 used, and it works fine, then i bought the fcb10 from bheringher to use with the pod and it was working good.

But last week i bought the line 6 floor board (used) and when i connect it to my pod it doesn´t work, i have tried the floor board in other pod and it worked fine, i tried the cable to and it was working.

When i connect the floor board to the pod the lights of the buttons - manual, midi, save, tuner, noise gate, tap- all turn on, and the floor board stays off.

So the problem its on my pod and i dont know how to solve it.

I own an original Bass Pod and am just bringing it back in the fold of my setup after many years. (Not because it fell out of favor, but because I moved away from the bass for a while.) Anyway, I see the original software (SoundDiver) has been (long?) discontinued. I'm wondering what options are avilable for me. Any chance line 6 monkey will work?

Anyway, there's really not much on the forums or in the FAQs regarding the original Bass Pod, so I was hoping someone might know where it stands in the current state of things and what my options are.

I'm using Logic Studio and Abelton Live on OSX. (I also recently acqured a Behringer FCB 1010, though I think I'm pretty clear oon how I can use that to controll the Bass Pod.)

Hi, folks! John J. back here as a Line 6 user after a year long hiatus.

What I've been trying to acheive is to run a PODxt in the effects loop of a Boss GT-10 and synchronize the two devices for patch and effects switching via MIDI.

In this case, the Boss GT-10 is the main floorboard controller and effects processor, while the PODxt is used for amp, cabinet, and microphone modelling.

Below is a post that I posted on the GT Central forum stating the issues I faced in this pursuit.

It would be great if you guys could give me your comments and feedback as well as help me solve the issues I've faced.

Hi, guys!
I've finally got my rig (minus the FV-500H soon coming!) together.

First off, the things which annoy me:

1. Patch synchronization

If you check out the PODxt manual, it states that that it receives MIDI Program Change messages from 0~127 to switch patches from 1A to 32D.
Checking out the GT-10 manual, it states that it sends MIDI Program Change messages from 1~128.

Already I'm expecting a drawback in not being able to access patch 1A in the PODxt. But, I hook everything up anyway, and I set up the Send/Receive Channels up properly as well as the Program Map menu (shifting all the defaults by one value so that in each bank of the PODxt - GT-10 combo: 1=A, 2=B, 3=C, 4=D, I had the Program Change set to Prog instead of Fixed for this) and lo and behold! The PODxt switched presets on a one-for-one basis with the GT-10 and even patch 1A lined up with patch 1-1.

Seeing this as unexpected but pleasant behaviour, I moved on, trying out the patch synchronization through various banks and all was going good, UNTIL I hit Preset U26-1 which somehow sent the PODxt back to 1A and cycling up from there instead of 26A! I tried everything I could think of, changed every possible parameter, and still this behaviour continued!

So, I checked out the GT-10 manual. Turns out that the way the GT-10 changes banks involves some three byte message which includes the Program Change message, CC#0 and CC#32. CC#32 remains 0 throughout all patches, but CC#0 dictates which "level" of banks to switch to in steps of 25 banks (hence the 4 banks of MIDI Program Map)!

Turns out, the PODxt can't read CC#0 (Or can it?), so once it finishes Bank 25, it just goes back to Bank 1!

So this leaves me with 50 banks of Boss GT-10 Factory Presets, 25 banks of synchronized GT-10 and PODxt presets, and 25 banks of GT-10 User Presets (I simply turn the S/R off in these User Presets as the PODxt continues to cycle from 1A.)

Can someone think up a workaround for this? Thanks!

2. Effects switching via MIDI

So, I look up the CC# for switching on and off the Stomp block in the PODxt via MIDI and turns out it's CC#25. I assign this to Control Pedal 1 and expect it to switch on and off the Stomp block on the PODxt, but it's in momentary mode by default! The Stomp block stays on for as long as I hold Control 1 down, and goes off when I let go.

Can someone please help me change it to toggle mode?
I hope it's possible.

3. BPM synchronization

As hard as I've tried, I can't get the Tap button of the PODxt to blink simultaneously with the Control 2 pedal LED to which my Master BPM is assigned.

Can someone please help me out with this?

THE GOOD NEWS IS:

A good lot of the PODxt presets are "dry" amp tones with no effects.
So, I've experimented with adding on the GT-10 effects (Comp, OD/DS, Chorus, Delay, Reverb, etc) and the tones I'm getting are mind-blowing!
Extremely satisfied with the results thus far.
The amp models are so clear and responsive.
The dirty ones clean up really well when I roll the volume knob on my guitar.

Note: My guitar is set up with the GT-10 as per Ricig's Calibration theory.

Alright, right now I'm running a pod 2.0 with a fbv controller.....I know that the fbv controller is designed for the vetta heads and that there are certain foot switchs that do not work with the pod (like amp 1 & 2 and favorite...) I'm wondering b/c I'm having trouble getting in touch with line6 if I can control external midi devices such as a tc electronics g major through the midi connections with the extra footswitches and when I upgrade to a pod x3 pro if i will be able to do the same I would like to control around 3-4 different things with the fbv if thats possible

I have a possibility to purchase a second hand POD XT PRO from a small for a very good price, but I have some question before:

1- Can I connect through XLR to my usb sound card Line6 POD STUDIO UX2 ? Are signal levels compatible ? POD XT PRO have two levels +4dB (live mode) and -10dB (studio mode). POD STUDIOUX2 has mic level and mic preamp on XLR input , is this a problem ?

2-I haven't a midi input or output on pc: Can I make the same operation via USB instead MIDI connection ( such as load upgrade, software , tones, read and change prorams and effect paramters), and make all operations possible via midi or there are differences via USB connection ?

Pod 2.0 and Line6 Edit

I have two pieces of ine6 equipment, a Flextone II and a Pod 2.0 (the older one so I didn't have to buy a new floorboard). I thought it would be nice to have a backup of my sounds and an easier way to edit them, so I installed the Editor.

After starting the Pod and Edit, the Pod was recognised, the list of sounds was filled, etc. I select a patch click Load, but the sound isn't loaded on the Pod... Okay, Edit then... I change parameters, and they are reset back to the value they were (and probably are as there was no change in the sound). I change a patch on the Pod and I see the correct patch being selected in Edit. Doubleclick the patch and the Editor Window opens. Changes within Edit are rejected as before, changes on the Pod itself though are broadcasted almost immediately.

I do the same things on the Flextone... No problem at all. Is the Pod interface within Edit faulty? Is my Pod's MIDI In dead in the water?

P.S.: as far as I am aware I am on the latest firmware (v.2.30 according to the Edit Main Window). I am running Mac OS X 10.5.7 as OS.

P.P.S: I believe I read something like the forum software doesn't play nice with Opera and I should fake being Firefox to be able to do what I want here. That does not work for me. Neither does Safari work. This is done via Firefox.

Pocket Pod Vista driver issue

After much struggling and reading, I gather that because the Pocket POD is a class compliant MIDI device and that it should work with Windows Vista, no further help is being offered? I am very frustrated because my new Pocket POD doesn't show up as a MIDI device on either of my Vista computers - Windows just insists on looking for a driver.

Is there perhaps a kludge driver available?

Problems with Pod 2.0

I'm having troubles with my POD 2.0. For the past month or so it's been humming loudly. I've checked all the cables, my other pedals, and played with different amps and guitars in different places but it stays just as loud. It doesn't make a difference if the noise gate is on or if I'm on a clean or distorted channel. Could it be a hardware issue, in which case how/where would I get it fixed? How can I find out if it's the power supply and how could I replace that?

I'm going to try reseting it, but I'd like to back up my tones first. Is this the best cable to use: M-Audio USB Midisport Uno MIDI Interface?

Let's try a thorough uninstall. Unplug your Line 6 device, go to
HD>Applications>Line 6>Drivers and remove your device drivers.
After that, drag the entire Line6 folder to the trash.

I have done this. Uninstalled all line 6 drivers and trash binned the folder.

Once you have done that, download the latest version of Gearbox, plug in your device, and then install it.

thing that has worked for me in the past was to leave the device
plugged in even after the installer program has told me to unplug it so

I also get a caution (yellow triangle with exclamation mark) sign next to USB firmware on the updates page. It says the installed version is 1.06 and the newest is 1.12. I must say that the Bass Pod XT Pro manual doesn't do a very good job of explaining the Bi-amp mode.

Here's my question:

Probably the most common setup for bassists interested in bi-amping would be a split signal (typically only the high frequency output would be wet) to their backline amps and cabinets, and a full-range wet output to the mixing console.

Is such a config possible with the XT Pro?

Line 6 Edit Problem with Mac OSX 10.5.6?

I have noticed a problem with Line 6 Edit and my Mac OS.

Up until very recently I was able to access the online library by clicking on the blue button in Line 6 Edit Tone Locker. Every time I try it now Line 6 Edit crashes.

I'm running Mac OSX 10.5.6 and Line 6 Edit 3.01. This problem is on my iMac G4 and my Powerbook G4.

XT Pro - Loud hum from the Unbal Analogue Out

I'm trying to connect my POD XT Pro's unbalanced Analogue Out to my amplifier's FX Return, and use the POD as the preamp and the amplifier as the poweramp.

I made the connections and everything worked but when I do this there is a very loud hum coming from my Cab. I tried both Unbalanced Analogue Out's on the Pod. I tried two different guitars. I tried 2 different brand new high quality Mogami cables. I also tried running this setup on two different amplifiers. I'm still having the same hum sound. When I unplug the cable from the POD the hum instantly stops so obviously its coming from the POD. Is there any way to stop this? Or any reason why this may be happening?

I also made sure I set the internal I/O of the POD to "Stack Poweramp" - i tried all the other settings too just for kicks and none of them made any difference on the hum. I also tried flipping the grounding switch on the back and that didnt make a difference either. I havent had a problem with the POD before this. Everything else on the POD has been working fine.

Any help is much appreciated.

I am desperately seeking help in getting my pocket pod updated via the Monkey. I would like to update my firmware to the latest version so I can use the USB feature to lay down some tracks with my studio software. The monkey will not allow me to update because it says my product is not registered. My product is registered and shows up as being registered in my acct info. I have tried everything at my end to get this thing to work short of flinging my Pocket Pod at high velocity against the wall, which right now seems a very satisfying concept. Helpful suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

i have had my pod running straight into a 15" pa speaker with no amp inbetween. the signal is coming from the headphone socket. i use it for low volume practice. the speaker is 8 ohm. am i ok to do this?

the signal from the other outputs is not powerful enough. i currantly have a mono cable from the headphone socket to the pa speaker is this a normal mono signal in this case? thanks.

Switches troubles and re-registration

Hello, Line6!

Everything was perfect, but after connecting Pod Xt Live to a PC using USB, switches bankup-amp-stomp-mod-delay stopped working.

Also I can't change anything in edit mode using effect tweak knob.

I tried to update the flash memory, but it's still the same.

Is there any way to solve that problem? Maybe I just turned something wrong?

Also, I bought this POD second hand, and i can't contact seller now, but POD has fx junkie and powerpack and i want to use them.

Can you help me re-register it?

Two questions actually, I just had my cheap effects processer malfunction during a gig and ended up with a drumstick in the back for it. Gotta love drummers! ;-) Anywho, these are my questions,

Question one,

Can the Pod X3 do everything the Bass Pod XT Live can do? If so, will the X3 sound as good for bass frequencies as the Bass Pod XT Live? I couldn't decide at the store and went with the Bass Pod because I have a Line 6 guitar amp all ready for my guitar and all the stuff in Logic for vocals. I play gigs with the bass and wanted a dependable effects processor to have at my feet in order to avoid future drum stick welts. I do a lot of home recording and am wondering if I made the right choice?

Question two,

How do I use a delay and a reverb at the same time, is it possible??? I'd hope so, thing cost enough! What about two mods at the same time? I'm reading the manual just am having a hard time finding these answers.

I've got a Pod XT Live, (which, btw, I got as a b-stock from zzounds.com) and whenever I have the pedal set to wah as the primary function, it will turn on and off during random times. Sometimes it just flickers on and off, kind of like the tuner pedal. In addition, when volume is the primary function, it rarely works. I'm thinking that the two issues are connected, but I'm not sure exacty how.

I was wondering if anyone else had this problem, or if people knew how to fix it. I've thought about sending it in to get fixed, but a) I'm not sure if a B-stock is still covered by warrenty, and b) I'd rather have it close by. Because it's my baby.

If I'm understanding your web site correctly, I can buy Pod Farm Plug-In for $50 because I bought PODxt Pro. How do I make the purchase ? That is, do I need to show kind of proof of purchase or serial number or what? Do I have to connect the PODxt Pro to the computer to use Pod Farm plug-in. If I try to use the PODxt Pro as an external effects unit with Cubase 5 going through a high-end sound card such as the Tascam US-144 with its own ASIO driver, will there be too much latency? My thinking is that I would take an output from my sound card, run it to the input on the PODxt Pro, and then feed the output of the PODxt Pro back into the input of the audio card, for instance, sending a dry Real Strat sample part from Cubase to the external PODxt Pro and then back into Cubase perhaps with distortion added? Would it be better to use Pod Farm as a VST plug-in, in terms of latency, or is that a waste of processing power on the computer when I've got the external PODxt Pro sitting there doing nothing? Please explain all of this to me and also if using the Pod Farm Platinum would work the same way as the Pod Farm Plug-In. I know that if you buy one of the Line 6 USB devices such as the UX2 that you have to have the device plugged into the computer to use the accompanying Line 6 software; this is the way I did it with my KB37 on my laptop. Has anybody here tried the Electro Harmonix 22 calibur amp? Looks like a pedal, but it's actually a micro 22 watt amp head. Looks interesting. I was thinking it might be a possible solution for carrying powered heads/amps to gigs when you are using a pod-type set up. Seems to get sort of dirty when cranked, but I have read a couple of reviews that says it has a lot of clean head room.

Vista will not install the drivers.

im using the Line Six monkey and it give me notice that my drivers are out of date and i proceed to update

i get all the way to the final warning about disconnecting the USB from the line 6 Podxt device

i click finish and instead of Vista taking over and finding the drivers and completing the operation

nothing.. for some reason Vista is not seeing that i have installed new drivers.. this was working yesterday

on Oct 30th.. with no problems.. but now the pod is not being seen.. and i can not even point to the drivers on Vista

it will not see them so im dead in the water,,

edit:

6) After the drivers are downloaded, Line 6 Monkey will exit so the Driver Install Wizard can launch.

7) Follow the steps of the setup wizard closely and precisely. Do not connect the USB cable to your device until the setup wizard prompts you to do so.

8) Once the Line 6 Monkey prompts you to plug your device in, the Windows Found New Hardware Wizard should open. Please follow the steps of the hardware wizard. this is were things foul up (i hit the finish key and there is no farther instruction) any ideas?

9) Once the hardware wizard has finished loading the drivers, your drivers should now be successfully installed.

I can see the drivers in the Dir. they exist it always comes up with the error

"Windows could not find the driver software for your device" but i can see the files in the Programs files/line 6/drivers Archive/Podxt dir..

i will keep at it..

but if you have any suggestions that may be of help,,

please help..

I have already been through the FAQ and have tried following those instructions to the letter..

Hey there!

I got this POD xt.

And there is some problems with it.

When im choosing between different sounds. Some of them just wont work. There is just a click sound, and then its quiet.

And when i use some of the sounds, for example the "Du Hast" sound, and I turn on the Bass, or some other EQ buttons. Same thing occur. Everything goes quiet with a little clicking sound before.

And I thing that its just doing this with about 5 of the AMPs.

I've also tried to update the flashdrive to the 3.01 version. But then things are getting really strange. In the 3.01 version almost every sound shuts of when I EQ them, or and 50% of them shuts of just when i choose them. And when that happens, i must restart the whole POD to get a sound again.

I've tried to update about 8 times and its always the same. So I have to make and rollback to version 2,01 every time.

This problem have been on this POD since i bought it. And the problem doesn't just occur when Im using a heavy sound.

It can also be when im using a clean sound.

So what should i do?

The is no guarantee left because it was to long since i bought it.

Black stripes in LCD on PodXT Live

So my 2 year old PodXT Live recently started showing black stripes vertically on the screen. At the beginning it was just like 3, and it progressed until now there are 4-5 big blocks of black across the screen, making it totally unusable. The LCD on the left (with the numbers) is also failing in that the bottom right and top right "pixels" aren't fully lit, just darker. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I read about someone with similar problems but briefly described the solution as "cleaning the cables", but I'm not sure as to what cables they're referring to. I can't send it in to support because I live in Costa Rica and the only place which fixes these pedals charges way too much to fix it. I can get myself around fixing stuff and have already opened the Pod before, so I just need to know what cables are the ones that need to be cleaned or what else can I do in order to fix it. Thanks!

Pod XT Live customise MIDI Program Change

Is there any way to manually override the settings for MIDI program change as shown in Appendix B in the manual? In other words, can I map my own assignments between incoming MIDI program change and Pod presets?

Example: according to Appendix B, MIDI prg change "0" triggers pod preset "1A". Can I change that? Could I, for example, set prg change "0" to trigger preset "5B", instead?

Important: I'm using a MIDI pedal board (foot controller) that CANNOT be remapped. So the only solution would be reprogramming Pod XT in order to react differently to incoming MIDI prg changes.

It'm guessing there must be some smart way to do this that I haven't figured out.

I'd like to record the wet and dry output of my PODxt to my DAW. This let's me dial in what I think is the right tone for the song, and play using that as feedback and feel for the song.

But later if I realize a different tone is called for, I can use the dry track to apply that.

Is there a smart way to do that? Some combo of the USB output, and the analog output, or settings in Gearbox or my DAW?

I have a home brew midi controller that I designed that I use to change settings on different midi based pedals that I use (POD XT Live, other pedals, etc.). I'm currently playing around with a Pocket Pod (I love this device due to its size) and it would be nice to have similar control over it using it's USB port. It would be pretty straight forward for me to include some hardware (USB master) in my home brew unit and write some simple software for it, however I'd need to know how to talk to the Pocket Pod. Is that info available anywhere and can someone point me in the right direction? Is it based on a standard? ... Any info is appreciated.

Edit / Monkey not able to "see" the XT Live

I haven't used my Pod XT Live for a while. And when I try to connect to it with Edit, there's no response. I've downloaded the latest Monkey software, and with it the latest drivers. Still Monkey and Edit is unable to connect to the device, both with USB cable and a Roland UM-1X USB to midi device.

That's very strange, as I perfectly well connect to my Vetta II Combo using the Roland device. Do you know why this might be happening?

Well, I guess I'll spend the night turning knobs manually, as I have a lot of preset to go through, and curse the manufacturer... ;-)

While I have you Line 6 guys "on the line", I might as well share another frustration. For my new rig, the one I'm putting together because the Vetta is just to big to haul around, especially when I really only need to connect directly to the PA. That's why I've turned once again to my Pod XT Live. I find that is does not offer the flexibility of effects as the Vetta does.

So I've been curious at the X3 Pro, as I will put some analog pedals and a switcher in a rack (and also as the X3 surprisingly enough does not have midi connectors...!). Trouble is, the X3 Pro is not a "Vetta without power amp and/or speakers", as I would expect it to be. If I got it right, it only does one stomp box effect at a time. That's a bit of a let down when I want a autowah and a Screamer at once... So for my the choice will probably not be Line 6 when I upgrade the gear. You've given me both playing pleasure and headaches (like today) during my years as a user.

I was originally going to ask whether the fact that there was no volume when I moved the pedal to 'heel' position mean that my POD was broken. But I think I spotted here someone saying that 'heel' = 0, and thus my POD is working perfectly well. Good job I didn't make a fool of myself, eh?

But. If that is the case, what is the 'normal' position for the volume pedal? Should I play with it in the 'toe' position (ie at full volume)? Or halfway, or something? And if so, does that mean I must, when starting to play, simply have a guess at what is the best volume to be playing at?

Hello ~

I own a factory refurbished Bass Pod Pro XT and tonight during rehersal the sound gave out (dramatically changed level and tone) during a song for no reason. I thought my amp went out or something, but it turned out that switching to another preset and then back again I got sound back again.

I don't have a floorboard, and I was no where near the controls.

Then later in the night for no aparant reason, the sound volume pretty much doubled, and tone changed during a song, for no reason, and again, the only way to fix it was to switch to another preset and then back again. I was at least 3 feet from the unit, nowhere near the controls.

This is very scary since I have a gig in 3 days and I am liking the sound I am getting. However, my question: Is this a common issue and if so it looks like I need to start shopping for something else and quick. Perhaps that's what I get for purchasing a refurbished unit?

Please help!

By the way, I tried registering, but said was already registered to someone else.

I'm the owner of a pod bass xt pro bought in 2006.

My friends have the guitar version and they have been able to update their pod xt pro to the ModelPack bass and so on... connect to POD FARM to use the unit as a VST cpu... But I cannot with the bass version of it.

Is there a way to turn my BASS POD XT PRO to a Guitar one by changing the chipset or the firmware something else ?

If not I will sell it.

I am currently using my macbook to record tracks on Logic Express (Version 8) and garageband.

I have no difficulty in recording guitars and midi instruments. However, I have recently purchased a soundtronics STC-2 condenser mic and can't get it to work. I know the mic s working - but can't get anything out of it using the ux2 with logic express or garageband. I assume this will have something to do with settings, altough I expcted to see some response on the level monitors on the ux 2. I would welcome any suggestions.

I just bought a bass pod with a foot switch.

i'm still exploring all the possibilities of sounds available to me.

I have 3 questions !

-1 Can i download sounds from the net to put into my pod? If so, how do i do it ? But i don't think i can, for there is no usb port connection on my pod.

-2 How do i stop the effects / and go back to my normal bass sound ? ( if i just wan't to punch a part of a song with the effect, and then stop it to go back to normal sound)

-3 THe effects TRON UP and TRON DOWN and BASS SYNTH don`t seem to work at all on my bass pod ???

ey Folks,

I've been playing with the Pocket Pod I have had for a few years and running it to the power amp of my old Fender and my Peavey C30. I have also been doing the same with the Floor POD Plus I bought last year. Now normally I use the Pocket POD for head phones and the Floor POD straight into the input of the amp. So I thought I would try to eliminate the coloring of the amp by running straight into the power amp. I changed the output type on the Pocket Pod to the B setting for straight into the power amp section of with an open back cab and adjust the output to a reasonable level. Sounds great. No Complaints. Then I try to do the same with the Floor POD Plus. Now all I have to work with there is the Direct/ Amp switch, the output level and the Channel settings. No setting for into a power amp that I can find. Even full bore....it's not even close. The only way I can get decent volume is to go in the main Input and use the volume knobs on the amp. Have a got a bad Floor POD Plus or is this pretty normal for these?

I have an PODxt Pro connected via Midi to PC, this workk perfectly but don't work via USB.

I have Firmware Upgraded (via Midi) to 3.02 and the last Windows Driver Downloaded and installed.

I tried with Windows 2000, XP, Vista and 7 on 3 separately Hardware (PC Desktop and Laptop).

This POD don't have newer worked with USB !

Could be a physical problem on USB port from PODxt Pro ??? There is a diagnostic for pod?

xtlive won't update drivers

I've installed line6 monkey, and when I run it, it says there are updates available for my drivers. So I highlighted the drivers section and clicked 'update section'. It ran me through the process, and when it was done it said drivers were installed to my computer. So I ran monkey again, and it said drivers werem't updated. So I did it again and the same thing keeps happening. It successfully downloads the drivers, but they won't downlaod onto my pod. money says my device isn't connected. So I chose the device i wanted to connect, pod xt live, and clicked ok. it led me back to the monkey page and nothing happened. this too, repeats when I try it. my computer recognizes that it's connected, but monkey doesn't. I have the latest version on monkey, if that makes a difference. I don't know if my gear is registered, but when i first tried to update the drivers it said checking gear registration and then did the download, so it must be registered.

I am using POD 2.0 with the "Pedal" label on the CAT5 Plug and an FB4 switch connected with a new, short CAT5 cable. I have been planning to use the POD for live via an effects loop and have switched to "AMP" mode but in testing I have been experiencing momentary signal loss / lag when switching. It is significant enough loss to prevent live use.

Any ideas?

I just bought a FBV yesterday Nov 5 (at a significantly reduced price because it didn't come with a box, manual or cable). The FX Loop activator switch doesn't work. Can I just order one and replace it myself, or is that the sort of thing that is covered when I buy a new product. When I first hooked it up, the thing was hardly working at all. I opened it up and found that all the ribbon cables were either partially or fully disconnected. I plugged the ribbon cables in and put it back together. When I hooked it up to my pod xt pro the beast came to life and it seems as though everything workes except for the FX Loop activator switch. Some guidance would be appreciated. It seems like a pretty easy fix.

Podxt shuts down my soundcard

Hi all hope you can help. Everything was working fine on my computer now everytime I plug in my Podxt it stops my sound running through my soundcard. If I unplug it and reboot my system it all works fine again. I have an external usb soundcard Edirol UA 25EX. My speekers are working fine, I have tested them through the audio imput. What I have noticed is that if i go into Control Panel/Sound under speaker properties/controller information it has my Podxt. I am useing Vista and I've used monkey to update. I want to be able to use both pieces of hardware but don't want to have to keep pluging unpluging and rebooting all the time.

What are the steps to select the device in Line6 Monkey for my new pocket pod?

I don't see an option to select Pocket Pod in the list of devices. Also if I select Pod 2.0 - it doesn't update the firmware.

I am using a macbook. How do I know if the USB cable is bad? The lights are on, on the Pod so I am guessing it is powered.

Line 6 UX1 studio latency problems?

I bought the UX1 as it advertised the 'virtual elimination' of latency, and a low recording noise, two things which were bugging the hell out of me with my iMic. It works fine with the headphones plugged straight into the box, but when I try and route the sound through garageband, I get some noticeable 'vibe killing' latency. Much more than in Ableton or riffworks. Should I run Gearbox as a standalone program in the background, or will the AU unit do the same thing?

When I use Guitar Rig Standalone, there are next to no latency problems, but with garageband, it's really noticeable, and pretty annoying. I bought this thing on the strength of the blurb and internet reviews, so can anyone help me out?

I have my garageband set up for lowest latency, and good quality sound samples, I'm editing a 5 track song with 3 live instruments, and my Line 6 Ux1 is set to the smallest buffer size for lowest latency.

I'm having a bit of a problem. I've checked my cables and I've isolated the problem, so I know it's coming from my Pod. Anyway, for some reason, the right channel from the stereo (phones) output comes out way quieter than the left channel. This issue does not depend on what patch I'm using at the time. I've checked the settings on my computer and there is no speaker panning in the Volume Controls. Any ideas?

Pocket Pod update - "Wait For Reboot"

Just updated my Pocket Pod to 1.01 (using Monkey 1.31). It seems to have finished okay but the Pocket Pod has now been displaying "wait for reboot" for about 20 minutes now.

Do I keep waiting? Or power it down and trust it'll be okay?

output problem with pod xt live

so i bought a used xt live around 6 months ago, and it started doing some weird things starting last week

it creates a static kind of noise that constantly cuts in and out.

this happened firston the left output, i can't play with it at all

then i connected my amp to the right output and the noise stopped for a while and came back in. i can usually play about 20 minutes at a time before the noise comes in on the right output.

the problem doesnt stop when i turn the pod on and off.

it makes the noise even when i dont connect a cable to the input to the pod

i dont get the problem at all when im not using the pod so it cant be my amp or cables

i figure it can't be an amp, cable or input problem. anyone have any ideas?

hey i bought a secondhand podxt, i cant get it to update, says reconnect usb, i know the cable is not bad, or it wouldnt recognize when i plug it in, then it keeps telling me to activate features, now if tried getting ahold of you guys, this thing is dead mint, still has the plastic on it and everything, than when i try to activate features, it wont do it and shows an error, please help me out , because im not calling again and sitting on hold for over 20 minutes again. i got this thing registered, what gives please fix asap, thanks.

I just purchased a POD Studio GX from Best Buy. I connected it like my old GuitarPort, and I'm not getting sound from my computer speakers.

I have the POD Studio plugged into a USB port and my speakers plugged into the line out connection on the GX. What am I doing wrong?

Also, I'm not able to register the GX online. I get various error messages.

I'm working with the pocket pod Vyzex editor, and can't figure out how to change the name of the patch at the very top of the screen (right under "the ultimate tone for mobile guitarists"). The documentation says that all you have to do is click on a sound in the channel bank (right under where it says pocket POD), and it should appear there, but it doesn't. USB and all appears to be working fine. I can't quite figure out which sound I'm working on, if it doesn't show up at the top.

Can you help?

I just bought a pod xt miuns it's power supply. Not even thinking about it I used my power supply from my Line 6 DL4. It worked fine at first but then started turning off and on, over and over again. I immeadatly turned it off! Then I noticed the power supply for the DL4 is 9VAC 1200 mA minimum. The Pod XT calls for 9VAC 2000 mA minimum! Did I do any damange to the Pod or will it be fine once I get the right power supply?

Mainstage 2 midi problems with FloorPOD Plus

Can anyone help. I'm using a FloorPOD Plus midi to digi 002 to Mainstage 2.

the Volume pedal and knobs (Bass Mid Treble) work fine when i do a Mainstage Learn.

Problem is when i try to Learn the A B C D pedals they don't work.

Mainstage shows the midi channel being sent but they don't actually turn the respective Mainstage pedal on or off.

If the Mainstage pedal is on it will turn it off but that's all. It will not turn it back on.

And if more than one Mainstage pedal is on pressing and POD pedal turns them all off.

Any Ideas before i return the FloorPOD

*i really want this to work but may have to get a MIDI only floor board.

Pocket Pod/Vyzex Problem

I just bought a pocket pod a few days ago and upon syncronizing it with Vyzex i noticed a problem. Whenever i load up it says that autosence can not detect my line6 pocket pod. Please check your Midi IN and Midi OUT ports, however i just recently fixed them so that it reads the USB Audio Device. When Vyzex loads it says "Receiving:Line 6 pocket pod channel" but the transfer does not load. Is there something i need to download or fix in order to be able to properly syncronise my Vyzex with my POD? If not then what can i do to fix it?

This is a technical question regarding the power supply for the pocket pod. I purchased a Power DC supply from Guitar Center who claimed it would work for my Pocket Pod. It has the right specs according to Line 6- however when i tested it out, it created a ton of feedback that was overpowering the guitar's sound as opposed to when i used the batteries on the pocket pod. I don't know if this is typical, but it only happens when the pocket pod is plugged into the wall. I was going to buy line 6's DC power supply, but i could not find any place that sold it. The one i bought was supposed to work, but i can't use it when it generates this much feedback noise. Is there anything i should try? Could it be a technical issue with the Pocket Pod? Is there a different DC 9v power negative tip supply i should purchase?

Ducking delay stomp box to use with Pod TL - recommendations?

I recently saw a demo of the Eventide TimeFactor box with it set for ducking delay. I was very impressed as to how it can do an infinite sustain. Does anyone have any experience in using stomp boxes with ducking delay in conjunction with their Pod XTL? Do you have any recommendations for manufacturer and model? The TimeFactor seems very expensive and complicated especially if I'm just using it for ducking delay. I would probably use it down stream of the POD since I use a Variax.

If any of the Line 6 folks are listening, perhaps a ducking delay can be added to the POD series in the future? If it was added to the X3 Live, then I'd probably bite the bullit and upgrade from my XTLive.

Thank you very much for your e-mail, I really appreciate. I have been 
following your instructions but unfortunately either monkey 
or line edit software does not recognise my POD 2.0. 
I am not able to select any MIDI in port before starting any software.
 Any of my USB MID cables does not come with drivers or updates
 (It is the 3th cable that I buy already). Line 6 Monkey gives me the 
same problem and gives the following message….”Failed to connect 
to the selected Line 6 device using the specified MIDI ports
 (Code 80009001) could not find specified midi device"
 My pod 2.0 is no MIDI mode preset in “A” to read any channel. 
Cables are in with out and out with in. What am I doing wrong?
