Q: Which Floorboards are compatible with my POD?
A: For a complete compatibility chart please see our Compatibility Chart on our website.Note: If the pedal jack of your POD is labeled "pedal" than it is NOT compatible with our FBV line of foot controllers. If the pedal jack of your POD is labeled "FBV" then it WILL work with our FBV line of foot controllers.
POD Pro Differences
Q: What are the differences between the POD and POD Pro?
A: With the exception of the Ins and Outs, the POD and POD Pro are virtually the same. The POD Pro has improved A/D converters, re-amping capabilities and added input and output connections, including Balanced XLR Outs, Digital Clock In and S/PDIF and AES/EBU Digital Outputs. The POD Pro was developed with the pro recording environment in mind. It has Digital Outs, Balanced XLR Outs, a Stereo Effects Loop and Reamping capabilities. It also has better Digital and Analog converters that will result in a more detailed presentation of the sound, which will be appreciated in a pro recording environment.
The POD 2.0 does have balanced TRS outs and all of the same deep editing and amp models.
POD MIDI Floorboard Compatibility
Q: I'd like to use a pedal to control the POD Pro, but I don't need the Volume and Wah pedals on the Floor Board, and I need direct access to at least 5 or 6 presets without having to turn around and manually change banks (as I'd have to with the FB4).
A: All Line6 amps and PODs with MIDI in jacks respond to MIDI program change and Sysex messages. Any MIDI controller, floorboard or pedalboard that sends these MIDI messages can be used to control a Line 6 product. Details of MIDI specification are available in the MIDI Continuous Controller Reference.
Bonus Amp Models
Q: Is it possible to access the "bonus" amp models in the original POD Version 1.4 or earlier without SoundDiver?
A: It is possible to access the "bonus" amp models in the original POD Version 1.4 or earlier without SoundDiver. The extra models are stored in factory presets 7A through 9D.
Appendix A of the POD handbook shows the extra models as the last 12 models. They start with Jazz clean at 7A, Boutique #1 at 7B, etc., and proceed from there.
In the Flextone II, POD Pro or POD version 2.0 or later, the extra amp models can be accessed by holding down the Tap Tempo button while rotating the Amp Selector knob. These extra models are listed on the back cover fold out of the owners' manual.
Q: How do you reset the POD back to factory settings?
A: Hold down the UP and DOWN buttons as you turn on the power. This will reset the processor and restore all factory presets.
***WARNING: This will erase all custom sounds you have created. You may want to back up your sounds using Line 6 Edit or write them down. Directions for writing down sounds are on page 6.2 of the POD pilots handbook.
POD Balanced Outputs
Q: Why isn't POD 2.0 equipped with an XLR direct output jack? Instead you have equipped it with left and right 1/4" jacks, making it still necessary to use a DI box when running it directly into the snake/mixer when playing live.
A: The POD's output jacks are TRS connectors. If you use standard mono cables, you will get -10, unbalanced signal. If you use TRS connectors, you will get +4 balanced signal. (To connect to XLR inputs of a mixer or snake, you can get TRS-to-XLR connectors from Hosa. Click here to go to their page for details.
For details on the POD's outputs, see the "Left & Right Output" section on page 21 of the POD 1.0 Manual or page 22 in the POD 2.0 manual.
