What is the Variax Bass 700?
The Variax Bass is a digital modeling instrument using patented Line 6 technology to bring you 24 exciting bass sounds ranging from vintage instruments to modern classics, acoustic basses and synth sounds.
Does the Variax Bass 700 use MIDI?
No, the Variax is a real bass. All of the sounds available in the Variax Bass start with the actual string vibrations of the Variax itself. Our proprietary modeling process shapes the raw string signal in real-time to replicate the sounds of the modeled instruments.
Does the Variax Bass 700 work only with Line 6 products?
The Variax Bass works with any and all bass amplification equipment and processing devices that a standard bass works with. The proprietary output from the RJ-45 jack on the bass adds new levels of performance when connected to a Line 6 Vetta or future Line 6 products with this exclusive digital input.
What are the models in the Variax Bass?
24 models are available in the Variax Bass 700. All the classic Rock basses are here along with modern masterpieces, upright, acoustic bass guitar, fretless and synth models. Check out the audio tour to hear them all!
What's up with the XPS-DI box?
The box supplied with the bass serves several functions. As a professional direct box, it simultaneously provides an unbalanced 1/4-inch output and balanced XLR direct output (for connection to a mixing console or for recording). A ground lift switch and line/mic XLR output selector switch are also provided. It also supplies power directly to the bass through the included TRS 1/4-inch cable.
What is the extra jack for?
The RJ-45 jack allows direct digital connection to Line 6 products that provide direct digital input such as a Vetta II or future Line 6 gear.
What type of cable do I need to use my Variax Bass?
In order to use the supplied XPS-DI direct box/power supply to deliver power to the Variax Bass 700, you will need to use the supplied 1/4-inch TRS cable or equivalent. If you use the internal batteries as your power supply, any mono 1/4-inch cable will work.
What type of neck is on Variax Bass?
The neck on the Variax Bass 700 is a long scale bolt-on neck designed to feel comfortable to a wide range of players. The maple neck with rosewood fingerboard has a broken-in vintage feel.
Can I buy replacement necks?
